Benefits of virtual sensors for air quality monitoring in humid conditions

• Chemical gas sensors can suffer from surface saturation when exposed to mixtures of gases or operated in humid conditions. Dynamic operation mode via temperature cycles helps overcome saturation. Virtual report higher sensitivity than real relative humidity and mixtures. Implementing dynamic fosters the general strategy knowledge for indoor outdoor air quality monitoring. The sensing mechanisms, response, behaviour a virtual solid-state chemical sensor operating either static have been compared. analysis was done by exposing simultaneously both different concentrations various volatile organic compounds diluted dry, as well humid, synthetic air. results revealed similar responses behaviours types measurement modes were towards single compounds, but enhancement measurements comprising mode. method used is able problems beneficial applications where are present.
